Welcome back! This is part 2 of my series ono anti-aging ingredients. These are not meant to be used in order so just try some and see if you like them. Part 1 was all about Vitamin C. If you didn’t catch that then check it out here. Anti-aging is something that we hear a lot when it comes to diet and exercise or what the fitness world likes to call “biohacking”. Well, anti-aging can be obtained with your skin pretty easily actually. It takes dedication and a good routine. My very first post is a good place to start if you have never had a skincare routine. Hence the name Skincare Made Easy. Now on to today’s topic: hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan in the body that has a whole lot of benefits for various regions of the body but today is obviously about the skin. HA is what is considered a humectant which seeks to retain of preserve moisture. By the ability to bind to water, HA can bind up to 1000x its weight in water which results in keeping more moisture on your skin for a longer time.
We have talked before about transepidermal water loss before but lets revisit. TEWL is basically a measurement for how much water evaporates from the skin. The goal of moisturizing with humectants is to reduce TEWL as much as possible!
Lets get to the real question: How does hyaluronic acid help with anti-aging?
By having more moisture in the skin, it can make your skin more plump and hydrated. What this does is make fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable. When this gets integrated into a skincare routine, it can truly make your face feel refreshed and hydrated.
What products do you use?
These are three that I have personally tried and currently using The Ordinaly Hyaluronic Acid serum. It is a great addition to my routine and has made my face feel refreshed and moisturized for a while now. I think this is just another option to add to your arsenal of fighting against skin aging. Stay tuned for more ingredients that can be used for aging to fight against wrinkles, fine lines, and brown spots.
